A statue of Rana Pratap is designed and sculpted for
the expansion of Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur
Rana Pratap is a National hero who led his men into battle in 1576 mounted on his incomparable white stallion Chetak. The battle of Haldi Ghati, unlike any other battle in the military history of warfare has aroused the greatest and most multifaceted interest. This single occasion has raised issues of social context, the composition of opposing forces, the efficiency of execution of the adopted strategy and tactics and finally most touchingly the acts of unparalleled bravery, unmatched sacrifices and unimaginable fighting skills of a few individuals who participated in this battle. Today Rana Pratap's life still inspires those who revere the value to live with self respect and self reliance.
A statue of Rana Pratap has been designed and sculpted by artist Shri Fakir Chand Parida and will be erected at Maharana Pratap Airport, Dabok, Udaipur during the early months of 2009 before the opening of the airport's new expansion. This major project of expansion undertaken by the Airport Authority will accommodate the increasing numbers of visitors to Udaipur and the region. Abhikram Architects, Ahmedabad have sensitively created a landscaped area around the statue to complement the skilful craftsmanship
Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur visited Haridwar in September to meet Shri Fakir Chand Parida and inspect his masterpiece.
