Events of the month Joint Initiative Event A private viewing of the exhibition followed by a reception took place at the V & A for some 90 guests from the media and travel sectors. Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur travelled to London to attend the event as Guest of Honour accompanied by Ms. Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur, Joint Managing Director of HRH Group of Hotels. Before a private dinner held for guests at the Bombay Brasserie, Ms. Mewar told the audience that she was delighted to work with the co organizers of the event to promote Udaipur that is now a growing destination offering a diverse spectrum of unique cultural activities. In a collaboration never done before, she said “we see this as a complimentary effort that enables us to do much more than we would have been able to do as individuals. It has been a wonderful to have had this chance to see the exhibition and share this evening with our clients, patrons and friends. Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur congratulated the organizers of the evening by saying that this is the first time that such diverse energies with the same objective have joined hands through such a magnificent cultural event to experience India. In his speech Shriji told the audience that The people of Udaipur were proud at being selected as the number one city in the world by the magazine 'Travel and Leisure' displacing Sydney, Australia in 2009. “One of the main criteria for this award” he said is the commitment of the people of Udaipur in furthering preservation of the ' heritage character' of the city. I believe this is not only a modern marketing technique of the 21st Century but a proactive way ahead to maintain the attraction and integrity of our precious destination and leave behind a legacy for our successors” It has always been our endeavour to deliver a uniquely enriching experience to all who visit Udaipur. The days have passed when travellers were satisfied simply with modern conveniences and facilities. They are also looking for ' life enhancing experiences' Ms. Anna Jackson, Deputy Keeper, Asian Dept. from the V and A joined guests at the Bombay Brasserie for dinner who included Princess Yasmien Abbasi of Bhawalpur, Mr. Brian Masters , Ms. Alice Bamford, Ms. Eva O'Neil, Dr. Frank Becker and Mrs. Becker and Sir G.K. Noon. The exhibition will be on show at the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung, where it opens on 12th February 2010 in the presence of Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur and Ms. Bhargavi Mewar of Udaipur who will be travelling to Munich for the occasion. |
