Guide Orientation Programme
MMCF organized a guide orientation programmeon the 6th August at MMCF Conference Hall, COMPO, The City Palace Complex, Udaipur. Dr. J. Daniel White, Professor of South Asian Studies at the Department of Religious Studies, The University of North Carolina, Charlotte for forty years has also been Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Religious Studies. He talked to the guides about his study project on Shree Eklingnath ji Temple, Kailashpuri. An interactive session was held on the various aspects of religion, architectural values and the historical perspective of temples. 35 guides attended the programme.
Visit of Research Scholar: Ms. Kruti Choksi
Ms. Kruti Choksi, a young research scholar from Vyavasayi Vidya Pratishan's Indubhai Parikh School of Architecture, Rajkot, Gujarat submitted her study work 'Organizing Principles and Proportioning System of Udaipur City Palace' in July 2011. Ms. Choksi first visited Udaipur in May 2010 as she researched and studied the original design concept of Udaipur City Palace Complex. In her thesis she covers its historic and socio-cultural political background making a thorough study on the 'proportioning systems' employed in the planning of the entire palace campus as well as its sub-zones.

Visit of Mr. Raghu Rai at The City Palace Complex
Mr. Raghu Rai is an Indian photographer and photojournalist who started his career in photography in 1965. A year later he joined the staff of The Statesman, a New Delhi publication. In 1976, he left the paper and became a freelance photographer. |

From 1982 up until 1992, Rai was director of photography for India Today. He has served on the jury for World Press Photography three times and received several Awards for his work including: Padmashree in 1971; National Geographic cover story “Human Management of Wildlife in India” won him widespread critical acclaim for his contribution in 1992.
He was named Photographer of the Year in the USA in 1992. He visited The City Palace Complex
Mr. Raghu Rai, Photographer
and Photojournalist on August 6, 2011,accompanied by his assistant Mr. Chandan Ahuja where he was on an assignment - Destination Rajasthan organised by the Government of Rajasthan. In the visitor's book Mr. Rai commented, "Beautifully Maintained and managed - A living City Palace in today's context, Loved it".
Renovation of Lifts at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur
A new Lift is now operating at Nagina Badi ka Darikhana with exits in Sabha Shiromani ka Darikhana, Mor Chowk and Pitam Niwas. It was originally installed in 1938 at the time of Maharana Bhupal Singh.
