The Bahida is daily diary of the Maharana and during the reign of Maharana Bhupal Singh he saw tremendous political changes in India, what with the Indian Independence movement and the end of Princely rule. They were tumultuous times and Bhupal Singh handled the situation exceedingly well. He was instrumental in persuading the other rulers of Rajputana to sign the "Instrument of Accession", to join the Union of Rajasthan in 1948. He was made the Rajpramukh of the newly formed state of Rajasthan and later when more native states joined in, he was elevated to the honorary post of Maharajpramukh, the only ruler in India to hold this position for his life time. Though handicapped from his early life Maharana Bhupal Singh was a good rider, a good shooter, a very able administrator and a very benevolent ruler, he is responsible for advancement in education and medical facilities, building roads, Inn's for travellers and many more in Mewar. He was the one who thought of building a dam across River Chambal and it eventually took place bringing succour to the parched lands of Mewar and other neighbouring states.

The book is based on the Maharana Bhupal Singh's daily journal. It has been published by the printing division of MMCF, Maharana Mewar Historical Publication Trust.
