Workshop on 'X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Technology for Art and Archaeology

The City Palace Museum, Udaipur, under the aegis of Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, organised an intensive, one-day interactive workshop on 'X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Technology for Art and Archaeology,' on 11th October 2019. The session, held at the MMCF conference room, was conducted in collaboration with M/S Bruker Nano GmbH, Germany. Mr. Michele Gironda, Manager for the Art and Conservation segment, Nano Analytics division at Bruker, conducted the workshop. The focus was on Bruker's latest portable XRF machine, 'Elio'; a non-destructive and vital tool for analyzing the material composition of artefacts including paintings, sculpture, textiles, arms and armour, etc. The session was attended by the Museum's in-house team of professionals and experts. External participants included qualified experts and working professionals in the respective fields; including civil engineers, archaeologists, conservators and others. The workshop, coordinated by the Museum's Conservation team, received the active support and the help of other departments.

Exhibition: Portraying 50 years of The City Palace Museum, Udaipur through brush and lens

To celebrated the 50 years of Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (20th October 1969 - 2019), an Exhibition titled, 'Portraying 50 years of The City Palace Museum, Udaipur through brush and lens' was exhibited to the visitors which displayed archival, digital photographs and watercolour paintings at Fateh Niwas Gallery from 22nd October 2019 - 31st March 2020 from 09.30 am to 05.00 pm.

The exhibition commemorates the golden anniversary or the 50 years of The City Palace Museum, Udaipur an integral part of Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation and the generations of artists that have been patronized by the Mewar Family. In celebration of the traditions of painting and photography, 50 archival photographs of The City Palace of Udaipur from the Museum's collection have each been recreated in the mediums of water colour painting and modern day photography.
