'Dimensions of Iconography' Workshop

Sahitya Sansthan, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Udaipur, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur and Archaeological Survey of India, Jodhpur Circle, Rajasthan organized a seven-day long workshop titled 'Dimensions of Iconography' from 19th to 25th November 2019, at Sahitya Sansthan, Pratap Nagar, Udaipur.

The lectures were focussed on iconography and its variations across the Indian sub-continent; from the Stone Age to the medieval period. Esteemed dignitaries including Dr. BR Mani, National Museum, New Delhi, Dr. Abhijeet Dandekar, Shrikant Pradhan, Shrikant Ganvir, Gopal Joge from Deccan College, Pune, and Vishnu Mali, KS Gupta, Lalit Panday and other scholars from Udaipur, graced this workshop with their presence. About more than 60 students and scholars attended this workshop.

Dr. Hansmukh Seth, Associate Curator, Ms. Purva Bhatia, Executive - MMCF Outreach Programme, and Ms. Swati Jain, Senior Research Assistant, MMRI, from The City Palace Museum, Udaipur, were present at the workshop.

Development in Maharana Mewar Special Library

MMSL is an excellent special library. This month, Maharana Mewar Special Library has a collection of more than 35295 books of different varieties. Library has special collection of books on literature, religion, history, arts, zoology, sports and general geography about different part of India and globe and rare collection of books on Mewar dynasty.

39 new books were received this month and all the books were processed in Accession Register. Classification done by Dewey decimal classification 19th Rev. Edition, Cataloguing (AACR II) and Bibliography; details uploaded in Library housekeeping software. Libsys and Eternal Mewar web site http://eternalmewar.in/mmsl. Stamping, tagging and scanning was also performed all these books.
