The City Palace Museum, Udaipur has always made a constant effort at ensuring universal accessibility for its visitors. In the same effort, it brought on Dr. Rachna Khare, Professor at the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal, for one of its projects. In this video, Dr. Khare discusses the Universal Access Project undertaken at the Museum, as part of the Museum's initiative towards making its premises more user-friendly and accessible.

A Lush Lunar Affair: Hariyali Amavasya

Poster: A Lush Lunar Affair: Hariyali Amavasya The City Palace Museum, Udaipur launched an Online Exhibition on Hariyali Amavasya, on 11th September 2020. The exhibition titled "A Lush Lunar Affair: Hariyali Amavasya", is an attempt to trace the visual representation of nature in the arts, and introduce the context of Hariyali Amavasya; a rare festival celebrated across India, particularly in the region of Mewar, Rajasthan.

Scrolls: A hands-on interactive workshop on the cloth based Phad paintings

The Museum organized a two-day e-workshop on the Phad paintings of Mewar titled 'Scrolls', with the traditional Phad artist, Mr. Abhishek Joshi from Shahpura, Bhilwara, Rajasthan, on 24th and 25th September 2020.The workshop was hands-on and participants had the opportunity of creating mini-versions of the Phad. For this, they were provided a set of instructions and a participant pack comprising of tutorial videos and sketch work in preparation for the workshop.

Ms. Chelsea Santos, Assistant Curator, conducted a brief presentation on the Phad tradition; the history, culture and several stories behind the creation of the Phad paintings as also the preparation of the colours and the canvas. The participants also witnessed a virtual un-scrolling of the Phad painting 'The Glorious History of Mewar' from the Museum's collection.

Collaboration with Sahapedia's Museums of India

The City Palace Museum, Udaipur joined in collaboration with Sahapedia as part of its Museums of India program.

Sahapedia is an open encyclopaedic resource on the arts, cultures and histories of India that offers digital content in multimedia format-articles and books, photo essays and video, interviews and oral histories, maps and timelines, authored by scholars and curated by experts.
