Architectural Wonders: Drawing and Painting Workshop

The City Palace Museum, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur, in joint collaboration with the Centre for Historic Houses, organized a drawing and painting workshop on 1st and 2nd August 2022. This workshop was an extension of the Summer Internship Program that the Museum facilitated with the Centre for Historic Houses (CHH), O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, and University of Oxford, as part of the CHH's 'Palace Museum Network'. It was conducted in the painting gallery, and was organized in conjunction with the exhibition Portraits, Kings, Landscape: The Practice of Painting at Udaipur. It was facilitated by Ms. Lauren Winch (Student of Art History, University of Oxford). The workshop was conceptualized to encourage visitors to look closely at the architectural details in paintings, explore artists' perspectives in rendering of space and architecture, and invite visitors to make

their own artwork. The workshop was created in a manner to cater to varying levels of difficulty, and to accommodate all abilities and ages. Participants could add colour to a pre-made stencil, imitate the stencil design and add paint, or conceptualize their own using reference visual and reading material. Participants were provided necessary stationery for single use only, and reading material (leaflet)

Promotional meeting for the exhibition 'A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur'

Ms. Padmaja Kumari Parmar, President and Founder, Friends of Mewar, USA; Dr. Shikha Jain, Principle Coordinator - MMCF Projects and Dr. Mayank Gupta, Deputy Secretary - Development, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF) met Mr. Amitabh Kant, IAS, India's G20 Sherpa, Government of India on 4th August 2022 at his office.

The agenda of the meeting was to promote the international exhibition title 'A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur'. The exhibition will feature seventy five works of art approximately dating between 1700 and 1900, including paintings from The City Palace Museum in Udaipur, Rajasthan, and other collections.
