The performances took place at 10:00 AM till 01.00 PM at the Baadi Mahal, City Palace Museum, Udaipur. The instrumental performances are a great way to experience the rich cultural heritage of Mewar for the visitors to the museum.

Anniversary celebration of Maharanas

The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, dedicated to preserving and promoting Mewar's rich heritage, brings history to life through its annual celebrations of Maharana birth anniversaries. The museum commemorated the legacies of three esteemed rulers in the month of November and December:

  • Maharana Amar Singh II (351st birth anniversary, December 2nd, 2023): Renowned for his military prowess and strategic brilliance, Amar Singh II's reign saw Mewar's borders expand and its cultural influence flourish. The Rai Angan showcased his pivotal role in defending the kingdom and his patronage of the arts.
     
  • Maharana Jawan Singh (223rd birth anniversary, December 14th, 2023): A visionary leader, Jawan Singh ushered in an era of peace and prosperity. The museum exhibit highlighted his administrative reforms, infrastructure development, and promotion of trade, which laid the foundation for Mewar's economic growth.
     
  • Maharana Shambhu Singh (176th birth anniversary, December 27th, 2023): A champion of education and cultural revival, he established schools and libraries, and fostered artistic expression.

The Rai Angan commemorated his efforts to preserve Mewar's unique traditions and enrich the lives of his

subjects. Through these immersive displays, visitors gained a deeper understanding of each Maharana's contributions and their lasting impact on Mewar. The celebrations not only revived historical narratives but also served as a testament to the enduring legacy of Mewar's rulers.

VIP Visit

British Deputy High Commissioner visits The City Palace Museum, Udaipur

Mr. Stephen Hickling, British Deputy High Commissioner for Gujarat and Rajasthan, along with Ms. Natalia Leigh, 1st Political Secretary, New Delhi; Ms. Amee Raninga, Political Advisor, Gujarat and Rajasthan; and Ms. Diana Joseph, Political Department, recently enjoyed a captivating tour of the City Palace Museum in Udaipur on the 24th November 2023.

Their enthralling journey began in the Mardana Mahal, followed by a visit to the Amar Mahal Gallery. Here, they were dazzled by the "Splendour of Silver" exhibition, showcasing the finest silver craftsmanship, and later delved into the "Mewar Regalia Textiles and Costumes Exhibition" at the Gokul Niwas Gallery.

The exquisite Crystal Gallery at Fateh Prakash Palace provided a magnificent finale to their exploration.

Mr. Hickling's admiration for the palace was evident in his comments in the visitor's book: "A wonderful tour of a most beautiful palace. Thank you to our guide for sharing the indepth history of Mewar and Udaipur."
