Fateh Prakash Palace, Udaipur
Location
Constructed along the eastern shores of the picturesque Lake Pichola, Fateh Prakash
Palace was built in the early twentieth century during the reign of Maharana Fateh
Singh. The Palace was commissioned exclusively as an entertainment venue for the
Maharana, to host royal functions. The interiors are decorated with miniature paintings
and portraits, personal artifacts as well as the legendary armory of the Mewar dynasty.
In the early nineteen nineties this Palace was converted into a Grand Heritage Hotel.
Accommodation
Fateh Prakash Palace has 4 Regal lake-facing suites and 5 Regal suites. Bathrooms
have now been fully modernised. The suites are decorated with original paintings
and period furniture from the toshakhanas (royal storerooms) of Mewar making them
unique and highly individualistic.
The Dovecote a newer addition to the Palace sits at the edge of the Lake Pichola
and its 21 Dovecote Rooms afford stunning views looking out on to the lake, Jagmandir
Island Palace, Jagniwas, Sajjangarh Palace and the surrounding Aravali hills. All
rooms and bathrooms have been upgraded this summer using contemporary furnishings
and fittings.
