A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur

The Cleveland Museum of Art is currently hosting the exhibition A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur, which features nearly 50 paintings on paper and cloth that were commissioned by the kings of Mewar, the royal dynasty that once ruled from Udaipur. The show is organized by Dr. Debra Diamond, the Elizabeth Moynihan Curator for South Asian and Southeast Asian Art at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, and Dr. Dipti Khera, Associate Professor, Department of Art History and Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.

The paintings in the exhibition date from the 17th to the 19th centuries, and they offer a unique glimpse into the history and culture of Udaipur.
