Hirox Europe Showcases 3D Digital Microscopy for Art Conservation at City Palace Museum

On February 22nd, 2024, the City Palace Museum's conservation team in Udaipur hosted a web demonstration by Hirox Europe, a leading innovator in 3D digital microscopy. Mr. Emilien Leonhardt, a manager at Hirox, presented their latest technology, the HRX-01 system. This session explored its capabilities for art conservation, including, HRX-01, this versatile microscope offers exceptional detail capture at various magnifications. Customizable Stands, provides a range of stands specifically designed to accommodate diverse art objects. Advanced Illumination, Visible, UV, and IR light options ensure comprehensive analysis of artworks. Panoramic Capture, system allows for the creation of high-resolution panoramas of entire artworks.

A particular highlight was the case study of Hirox's 108- gigapixel scan of Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring." This showcased the incredible detail achievable with their technology. Mr. Leonhardt further presented captivating examples of Hirox's work on master paintings from renowned European museums.

The session culminated in a live demonstration of various Hirox microscopy systems, followed by an interactive Q&A with participants. This well-attended online event proved valuable for conservation professionals across India.

Development in Maharana Mewar Special Library

Maharana Mewar Special Library (MMSL) is an excellent resource for scholars and researchers. It has a collection of more than 36460 books till February 2024 on different subjects. The Library has special collection of books dedicated to Literature, Religion, History, Arts, Zoology, Sports and General Geography of different parts of India and the globe, and a rare collection of books on the Mewar dynasty. All the books were processed in Accession Register. Classification done by Dewey decimal classification 19th Rev. Edition, Cataloguing (AACR II) and Bibliography; details uploaded in Library housekeeping software. Libsys and Eternal Mewar web site http://eternalmewar.in/mmsl. Stamping, tagging and scanning were also done on all these books.
