The City Palace Museum Celebrates International Museum Day with Cultural Immersion and Artistic Demonstrations

The City Palace Museum, Udaipur celebrated International Museum Day 2024 on May 18th 2024 with a series of engaging events that aligned with the International Council of Museums (ICOM) theme, 'Museums for Education and Research'. The museum's trustee, Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, emphasized the enduring significance of museums as institutions that bring visitors face-to-face with the finest examples of art, nature, and human creation, fostering education and research.

As a prominent museum showcasing the history of the Mewar dynasty, the City Palace Museum organized various activities to enhance educational and research opportunities for visitors and scholars. The events were structured around the 5 C's: Capture, Create, Craft, Connect, and Celebrate.

Visitors had the opportunity to capture their memories at the Heritage Photo Booth, creating lasting souvenirs that sparked curiosity about the museum's historical architecture.

At Chowmukha in The Zenana Mahal, visitors engaged in traditional block printing with the museum's curatorial team, customizing bookmarks and gaining hands-on experience with this ancient art form.

The beauty of traditional rangoli artistry by Mr. Rohan Thakar was showcased at Lakshmi Chowk, offering insights into cultural expressions and their historical significance.

Live artisans at various galleries in the museum allowed visitors to connect with diverse craftsmanship inspired by the museum's collections, fostering an appreciation for artisanal skills and their evolution. These demonstrations included: Miniature painting by artist Mr. Kailash Soni in the painting gallery; Stone sculpting of a Ganesh idol by Mr. Rajesh Mogiya in the sculpture gallery; Silver jewelry crafting traditions by Mr. Sanjay Verma in the silver gallery and Thikri art demonstration by Mr. Devendra Singh in Mor Chowk.
