Instrumental performance at Baadi Mahal

Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation is committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Mewar on same behalf it provide platform to the resident artists to showcase their art every week at the Baadi Mahal of The City Palace Museum. The artists perform with variety of traditional Indian instruments including santoor, flute, jal tarang, and sitar. The performances are open to the visiting tourists. On July 06th Ms. Jyoti Prajapati (Flute); July 13th Mr. Pradeep Kumar Tanwar (Sitar); July 20th Mr. Anand Dabley (Flute); July 27th Ms. Kanishka Verma (Violin); 03rd August Mr. Vijay Kumar Dhandra (Sarangi); 10th August Dr. Dimple Sindhal (Sitar); 24th August Mr. Suresh Kumar Prajapati (Sitar) and on 31st August Mr. Nandlal Gandharv

(Jal Tarang) presented their performance. The performances took place at 10:00 AM till 01.00 PM at the Baadi Mahal, City Palace Museum, Udaipur. The instrumental performances are a great way to experience the rich cultural heritage of Mewar for the visitors to the museum.

Anniversary Celebrations of Maharanas

The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, dedicated to preserving and promoting Mewar's rich heritage, brings history to life through its annual celebrations of Maharana birth anniversaries. In the months of July and August 2024, the foundation commemorated the legacies of four esteemed Maharanas of Mewar:

Maharana Sajjan Singh, who reigned from 1874 to 1884, is celebrated for his transformative contributions to Mewar, marking his 165th birth anniversary on July 15, 2024. His visionary leadership brought significant infrastructural advancements, including improved roads and the establishment of the first municipality in Princely India. He also created public pleasure gardens and a zoo, enhancing public education and leisure. An intellectual at heart, Maharana Sajjan Singh fostered a culture of scholarly discussion by inviting learned men for weekly gatherings. He was not only a patron of the arts but also an accomplished poet and historian, commissioning 'Veer Vinod,' the first comprehensive history of Mewar. His reign was notable for embracing modern technologies, such as gas lighting and photography, which led to an extensive collection of portrait photographs of himself. The photograph featured from around 1880, captured by Johnston & Hoffmann, highlights Maharana Sajjan Singh, who was honored with the title of Knight Grand Commander of the Star of India for his dedication to promoting Mewar's heritage while advancing its development.

Maharana Karan Singh, who ruled from 1620 to 1628, commemorated for his 441st birth anniversary on August 17, 2024. He ascended the throne following Maharana Amar Singh and had already begun exercising administrative authority during his father's reign due to political tensions with the Mughals.
