The Sam Sand Dunes
The Sand dunes at Sam, lie 40 km west of city and are visited by most travelers who stay in Jaisalmer. The best time to view them is when the sun rises at dawn, or at sunset. As the winds lift the sand, the shape of the dunes are constantly changing adding to the mystique. A popular safari visits desert villages, ruins and temples.

During the season, The Gorbandh Palace Hotel has organised several events for multinational companies including Nokia India Ltd., Kirloskar Brothers Ltd., the Bank of Baroda and Carlson Hotels Asia.
The L'Imperiale Incredible India 2007 vintage car rally organised in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India stopped over in Jaisalmer during its tour of Rajasthan. 20 vintage cars dating from 1925 to 1965 took part in the rally with participants from Europe.

Folk music for which Jaisalmer is famous can be enjoyed by campfire under open skies. This legendary 'Golden City's' teeming bazaars, ancient forts, desert tribes and rugged landscapes offers a storybook vision of one of India's most appealing destinations.

In narrow winding lanes, find camels, desert gypsies, wandering cattle and children playing. Chunky rustic silver jewellery, colourful embroidery and mirror work, brightly coloured tie-and-dye fabrics, rugged looking camel-skin mojri slippers, traditional shawls, rugs, and woodcarving are found in the medieval bazaars of this enchanting town.
The desert festival takes place every year in February and lasts over three days. Approximately 2000 to 3000 foreign visitors come to Jaisalmer for this festival which attracts as many as 15000 Indian nationals from far and wide. The camel fair is a big attraction with dancing, camel races and music. The festival takes place between the 19th and 21st February in 2008.
