The City Palace complex, Udaipur is location to two film shoots
Recently two high profile movies were shot within the compound of The City Palace complex, in Udaipur. The first movie 'The Timeless Mystery' was filmed at The Manek Chowk in early April. The movie is a short dramatized documentary, shot in the 1930s style about the photographer Burton Holmes (1892 - 1952). The second movie 'The Ship of Dreams' was filmed at various locations within The City Palace complex. Written by Barbara Engelke the film will be presented by Polyphone Film.

YPO visit to Udaipur
Members of the Young Presidents Organisation visited Udaipur on April 5th and were accorded a traditional Rajasthani welcome at Tripoliya, The City Palace complex. That evening they watched a showing of The Legacy of Honour, The Mewar Sound and Light Show. This was followed by cocktails and dinner at The Sunset Terrace.
During their stay, the group visited the City Palace Museum and The Crystal Gallery. They also took part in local cultural activities. In a royal procession they travelled from The Cricket Ground, Shikarbadi Hotel to The Risala, Shikarbadi Hotel in camel carts. The procession included horses wearing ceremonial attire with lance men, Punjabi Dhol, Kachi Ghodi troupe and Royal Chatries.
The Risala was decorated as a market theme where there were stalls displaying bangles, balloons and Mehendi. A snake charmer, magician and astrologer were an added attraction to the evening while the guests enjoyed cocktails and dinner.


Merck Specialties Conference
Merck Specialties Private Limited (Mumbai) organised a four day conference at Udaipur. The delegates arrived at Udaipur on April 15, 2007 where they had lunch at The Paantya Restaurant Shiv Niwas Palace before proceeding to The Shikarbardi Hotel for tea on the Jhula Lawns providing the opportunity to watch the ritual of spotted deer, wild boar and monkeys, living in the sanctuary feeding at the edge of the lake. Cricket enthusiasts competed in a match before cocktails and dinner at The Risala.
On the 16th April delegates attended a conference held at The Durbar Hall, Fateh Prakash Palace followed by lunch. During the afternoon they visited the Palace island of Jagmandir before cocktails and dinner at The Arsi Vilas on Lake Pichola.
The second session of their conference continued during the morning of 17th April at The Durbar Hall, Fateh Prakash Palace. In the evening a camel ride was organized from Arjun Khura gate to Doodh Talai, Udaipur. Cocktails were followed by dinner on The Top Terrace at Shiv Niwas Palace.
The final session of the conference took place on the morning of April 18, at The Durbar Hall, Fateh Prakash Palace, again this was followed by lunch and an afternoon at leisure. In the evening delegates participated in a friendly kite flying competition at the Risala, Shikarbardi Hotel before a farewell dinner which took place under a star lit sky at The Sunset Terrace, Fateh Prakash Palace.
