Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces present a screening of Jewels and Marble Palaces at the State Theatre, Sydney, Australia on the 4th February 2008
Taj Hotels and Resorts presented the screening of a film, Jewels and Marble Palaces, a heady travelogue featuring four of its most opulent palace hotels in Rajasthan, India that enraptured an audience attended by Glitterati, Corporate dignitaries, Media and Hoteliers. The evening started with a champagne reception when guests were formally introduced to members of the Mewar Royal Family, Princess Bhargavi Kumari Mewar of Udaipur and Prince Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur. Rajkumar Sahib Vijit Singh of Jaipur had also travelled to Australia for the occasion. A reception was held after the filming at which invitees mingled and chattered to the royal guests.

Several newspapers covered the event including The City Weekly, Sydney that reported the film left guests dreaming of ' rooms full of glittering gems' and romance of the Raj. The Sun Herald wrote “the Royals joined the likes of Steve and Lynette Waugh and Collette Dinnigan to watch a gloriously blinging movie featuring the palaces and the grand families who once lived in them”. The Sunday Telegraph reported in its edition on the 10th February that the Princess stunned the 100 guests in her elegant green sari and diamond necklace and drop earrings that she wore for the occasion. Princess Bhargavi is Managing Director of Chetak Exports. In 2006 she opened Aashka, a souvenir and lifestyle boutique at the Manek Chowk, City Palace Complex. The boutique’s endeavour is to provide an expression for indigenous artists and craftsmen selling artefacts particular to the region of Mewar. It also mentioned that the Prince had happily lived in Sydney for some years when he studied hospitality management at BMHS Blue Mountains Hotel School.
The event was also shown at a special viewing at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne.

Delegates from Ethypharm one of the world's largest drug delivery system (DDS) companies attended an international conference held at the Durbar Hall, Fateh Prakash Palace. Ethypharm provides a range of effective solutions to optimize the delivery of pharmaceutical products. The company has capabilities from research through to manufacturing, with its headquarters in France, and has successfully launched 50 products in over 70 countries.
Participants stayed at Fateh Prakash Palace and Shiv Niwas Palace. The event organizers planned dinner at the Pool Deck, Shiv Niwas Palace and lunch at the Sunset Terrace, Fateh Prakash Palace.

Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur celebrated his 23rd birthday on 14th February 2008. The Zenana Mahal, The City Palace Complex was adorned exclusively for the occasion with red and white flowers. In this spectacular setting, synonymous with the living heritage of Mewar, the renowned Sabri Brothers performed Qawwali (improvised Sufi devotional music)

Guests included Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, Maharani Sahiba Vijayaraj Kumari Mewar of Udaipur and Princess Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur ; dignitaries of Udaipur and friends. A birthday cake shaped to replicate the Golmahal, Jagmandir, Maharaj Kumar's favourite venue was made for the occasion.
