Baring Private Equity Partners hosted a dinner for its investors at Jagmandir island Palace, Udaipur on the 25th March. This successful company has been a pioneer in providing private equity capital in India with a reputation for building outstanding business in India over the last 10 years. Baring was the first Fund to conclude a management buy-out of a listed company in Asia, the first cross-border M&A in the country and the first VC to invest in the Indian BPO sector.

Workshop on conservation practice guidelines for cultural heritage sites held at The City Palace Complex, Udaipur
The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF) along with its prestigious partners UNESCO New Delhi, State Institute of Heritage Conservation, Rajasthan and, INTACH Udaipur Chapter; organized a workshop on conservation practice guidelines for cultural heritage sites from March 24-26, 2009 at The City Palace Complex, Udaipur.
The goal of the workshop was to evaluate all aspects of conservation practice in Udaipur (related to implementation works) such as reading of constructions drawings, specifications, material testing for exceptional artworks, material sourcing and preparing detailed estimates – in order to establish guidelines for onsite conservation works at Udaipur. Participants included Conservation architects, site supervisors, engineers and art restorers working on heritage sites in Rajasthan.
The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF), Udaipur has established a Model Plan to preserve heritage sites with initiatives taken for The City Palace Complex, Udaipur. The exhaustive survey and planning of this unique 400 year old historic monument has been ongoing for two years and was finally completed in 2007.
The conservation master plan not only provides guidelines for future intervention and development but also aims to serve as a model in heritage management. With this now in place, MMCF is now circulating findings of the plan to local residents and visitors, as well as preparing further detailed drawings so that work can be undertaken
In the Second Phase of Planning (2008-09), the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation has again been awarded a prestigious International Architectural Planning Grant from the Getty Foundation, USA. This Grant will contribute to the completion of all Secondary Plans, detailed architectural drawings, Bill of Quantities and estimates for the project at the City Palace Complex, Udaipur. The project covers Building Use Plan and Museum Planning; Interpretation Plan; Environmental Plan; Risk Management Plan; Business and Tourism Plan of The City Palace Complex, Udaipur under the Primary Plans - Conservation and Management Plan.
