Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation diary

National conference held on 'Pictorial Representations of The Ramayana’
Sahitya Academy, New Delhi organized a national conference on 'Pictorial Representations of The Ramayana' from 7th to 9th June at Raja Bhuri Singh Museum, Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. Ms. Sonika Soni, Documentation Assistant, Pictorial Archives, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur presented a paper on The Mewar Ramayana Tradition and 'Raghuvamsha', based on stylised aspects and on the painter's strategic representations in the illustrated Raghuvamsha manuscript.

Exhibition and Sale of Books
Maharana Mewar Historical Publications Trust, held an Exhibition and Sale of Books at the Sabha Shiromani Ka Darikhana, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur for 7 days from the 15th to 21st June. There was a wide range of books on display from the History of Mewar, Maharana Pratap, Bhaktimati Meera Bai, the History of Rajasthan, Hindi and English Literature as well as books on religion, architecture and arts and crafts. The exhibition was supported by Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation.


Visitors at the exhibition

A large number of domestic tourists from West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan as well as international tourists from France, Japan, China showed great enthusiasm as they visited the exhibition and purchased books. There was also keen interest expressed by local people who visited the exhibition.

The imposing statue of the legendry warrior Maharana Pratap commissioned by Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur and HRH Group of Hotels, Udaipur, sculpted by Shri Fakir Charan Parida, Haridwar was inaugurated at Dabok Airport, Udaipur by Hounarable President of India, H. E. Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil on 30th June 2009. A year on, the statue was given a specialised polish after regular cleaning. The statue was scrubbed with sand paper before being washed with water. It was then painted with a coat of uniform mix of paints. The final coat was applied of a mix of graphics powder, golden powder and copper powder in the proportion of 10:4:1
