1. Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur was Chief Guest at the Krishna Janmashtami celebration held at Shree Jagdish Temple, Udaipur. Dharmotsav Samiti organised a competition of Matki Fod where teams formed a human pyramid in order to reach an earthen pot tied at a height of 26 feet. Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the eighth day of the dark half (Krishna Paksha) of the month of Shraavana in the Hindu calendar, when the Rohini Nakshatram is in ascendance. The Hindu calendar being lunar, these two events (the eighth day being that of the waning moon (Krishna-paksha Ashtami) when Rohini Nakshatram is in ascendance) only overlap for a few hours. |
