Holika Dahan Festival 2013 at The City Palace, Udaipur
23rd to 26th March 2013
 

The festival of colours, Holi was celebrated with great zeal at The City Palace, Udaipur. Festivities started with the Holika Ropan ceremony, constructing the Holika Effigy on the purnima (Day of the full moon) in the Magh month that fell on the 25th February 2012. A series of events were organized at The City Palace Complex, Udaipur to mark the Holi Festival.

Rang - Celebrating the hues and tones of our living heritage

MMCF initiated Rang – an Art and Craft association inspired by the colourful hues of Mewar and Holi in the year 2007. The idea was to indentify, trace, promote and nurture the talent of artists and craftsmen, who have retained their respective trades for generations and may be the last examples of impeccable craftsmanship many of whom lacked innovation and had been unable to present their art to contemporary society.

Rang 2013 is another effort taken from our vision for Culture and Heritage promotion. On the 23rd March Mr. Shailendra Dashora, Director of WZCC in the presence of Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur inaugurated RANG workshop at Sabha Shiromani Ka Darikhana, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur with artists and their creations. Work in Terracotta by Mr. Jamnalal Kumhar, Mirror or Theekri work by Mr. Krishna Kant Sharma, Miniature painting by Mr. Nilesh Sharma and pieces in Clay by Sculptor, Mr. Peter Hayes.

Ms. Aditi Babel, a book artist and graphic designer from the city of Udaipur has been Coordinating working with the artists and craftsmen to create contemporary art forms. The workshop concluded on 25th March.

Colors – A Painting Exhibition

A painting exhibition 'Colors' was inaugurated at Zenana Mahal, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur by Mr. Shailendra Dashora, Director of WZCC in the presence of Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur. The exhibition displays various forms of paintings of both Indian and International Artists including Mr. Ratnadeep Adivrekar, Ms. Madhavi Gangan, Mr. Shamendu Sonawane, Ms. Madhuri Kathe and Mr. Vishu Sonawane. The exhibition was coordinated by Mr. Ushat Gulgule an artist from Mumbai. The exhibition concluded on the 26th March.

Rangoli – A food festival HRH Group organised Rangoli, a food festival at Palki Khana, The City Palace, Udaipur from 23rd – 25th March, The European style café at The Manek Chowk. Chefs captured the festive spirit of Holi with exotic and delicious chaats and street foods.
