Gangaur Procession at The City Palace, Udaipur On the 16th April the festival of Mewar – Gangaur was celebrated with its everlasting charisma and devotion at The City Palace, Udaipur. The Gangaur procession started at Tripoliya and walked to Rameshwar Ghat. Women dressed in colorful attire were seen holding highly adorned idol of Gauri denote to Gangaur. Gangaur is the colourful and one of the most important festivals for the people of Rajasthan. It is observed throughout the state with great fervour and devotion by womenfolk who worship Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva during March–April. It is the celebration of spring, harvest and marital fidelity. Gana is a synonym for Lord Shiva and Gaur which stands for Gauri or Parvati who symbolizes Saubhagya (marital bliss). Unmarried women worship the Goddess asking to be blessed with a good husband, while married women worship for their welfare, health and long life of their husbands and happy married life.

The book launch took place at Shambhu Niwas Palace, The City Palace, Udaipur. The book has been published under the direction of Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, Chairman and Managing Trustee, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur and compiled by Mr. Anu Vikram Singh, Keeper - Vintage & Classic Car Collection of The Palace with contribution by Mr. Bob Rupani and Mr. Gautam Sen. The book has 197 pages and 261 photographs .
