Visit of Mr. Niels Arthur Andersen

Mr. Niels Arthur Andersen, Denmark, visited The City Palace Museum, Udaipur on 11th November 2018. During his visit, he looked at the Arms and Armour collection that are being conserved, and the proposed Arms gallery at Salehkhana. He further engaged in a discussion about Arms and Armour with Dr. Hansmukh Seth, Associate Curator, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur and the Arms and Armour conservation team in their laboratory.

For more than 50 years, Mr. Niels has had a keen interest in Islamic weapons, particularly presentation weapons. These

weapons were used as political gifts in the 18th and 19th centuries that the rulers of Algiers and Tunis made to European Kings, Princes and Presidents of the United States of America. His book, " Gold and Coral : Presentation Arms from Algiers and Tunis", is an extensively researched Arms catalogue of these 'presentation weapons' that he has collected over the years. He gifted a copy of this book for Shriji, during this visit.
