Documentation of construction

Maharana Mewar Research Institute initiated the work of documenting the constructions carried out in the reign of Maharana Bheem Singh (r.1778-1828 CE), Maharana Sardar Singh and Maharana Swarup Singh (r. 1842- 1861 CE). The institute has documented 15 sites of Maharana Bheem Singh, 45 sites of Maharana Swarup Singh and 1

site of Maharana Sardar Singh including Temple, Mahal, Lake, Bavdi and Garden etc.

Painting exhibition - 'Gauri Dancers'

Artist Mr. Waswo X. Waswo and Mr. Rajesh Soni exhibited their painting exhibition 'Gauri Dancers' at Shilp Sabha, Manek Chowk, The City Palace, Udaipur from 11th September - 27th September 2019.

About exhibition 'Gauri Dancers'- Photographs of Waswo X. Waswo and Hand-painting by Mr. Rajesh Soni. Gauri (also known as Gavri or Gavari) is celebrated by tribal communities in the southern part of Rajasthan (Mewar) as a forty-day festival that entails fasting and celebration in honour of Lord Shiva and his consort, the Goddess Parvati.

Through Waswo's distinctive studio portraiture, each black and white print(painstakingly hand-tinted by hand-colourist Rajesh Soni) the astonishing visuals of Gauri costuming and performers unfolds in a manner both contemporary and vintage. The duo exhibited 8 paintings of their art work.

Mr. Waswo X Waswo is a Photographer from USA and Mr. Rajesh Soni is a third generation Rajasthani hand-colourist.
