Virtual Walkthrough of the Conservation Laboratory

The Conservation laboratory at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur was an erstwhile royal living quarter. It was created in a manner that could cater to the treatment and care of a wide variety of artifacts while still retaining the essence of the structure. Access to the laboratory is largely restricted to visitors. In a first, the laboratory was opened to all. In this virtual walkthrough, accessible on the Museum's social media, Art Conservation Consultant, Mr. S. Girikumar traces the journey of the conservation laboratory from a living quarter to what it is today while also discussing some of the processes involved therein in the treatment and chaqiare of the collections.

Partnership with The Museum Memories Project

The City Palace Museum, Udaipur initiated a partnership with Ms. Poulomi Das, Founder, The Museum Memories Project, to reach out to global audiences in the pandemic world, through sharing of memories and stories in connection with the museum; to generate a greater interest amongst audiences, and to encourage them to visit.

Ms. Das' "The Museum Memories Project" is a recent development that was launched on 15th April 2020. It seeks to bring the world closer, provide a platform for new narratives or voices to be heard in relation to Museums and experiences there in, and to bridge the gap between Museums or heritage professionals and the Museum goers or audiences in general so that the future would see more accessible-inclusive spaces with an understanding of the 'audience's needs.' The first part of this partnership documents the varied voices of the Museum staff.
