Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Trustee, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation held a meeting of guides at Laxmi Chowk, The Zenana Mahal, The City Palace, Udaipur on 13th August 2022 where he briefed the guides about the new developments. To mark the 75th year of Indian Independence, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation organized 'Srajan - Arts and Crafts Bazaar- 2022' at Zenana Mahal, The City Palace, Udaipur from 13th August - 21st August 2022. Tourism is a catalyst that drives various industries and livelihood of local artisans. MMCF took this opportunity to provide a platform to our local artisans and craftsmen. Artists included Mr. Sanjay Kumawat Kheradi, Wooden Toys and Handicrafts; Mr. Rohan Kumawat,Metal Carving; Mr. Rajesh Mogiya, Carved Soft Stone; Mr Lal Chand Parihar, Sikligar; Mr. Rajesh, Mojri/ Juti; Ms. Neha Bhavsar, Mr. Vijay Bhatt, Artificial Jewellery and Leather Diaries. |
Dr. Sonya Rhie Mace, George P. Bickford Curator of Indian and Southeast Asian Art, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio and her son, Gregory Quintanilla, visited The City Palace Museum, Udaipur on 16th August 2022. Her visit was facilitated by Dr. Mayank Gupta, Dr. Hansmukh Seth and Ms. Chelsea Santos. She particularly visited the Museum's Conservation Laboratory and was briefed by conservators Ms. Anuja Mukherjee and Ms. Bhasha Shah, while she closely observed the conserved collection that will travel to her Museum in Ohio, as part of the forthcoming exhibition titled 'A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur'. The exhibition is organized by the National Museum of Asian Art, in joint partnership with The City Palace Museum, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur and Friends of Mewar; it will be exhibited first at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art, in Washington, DC, from November 19, 2022 - May 14, 2023 and then at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, from June 3, 2023 - September 10, 2023. |
