Participation in ICOM Prague 2022

Dr. Vandana Singh, Consultant Conservator, Arms and Armour, at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur represented the Museum and the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation at the ICOM's Annual Conference in Prague, on 22nd August 2022 during the session 'Reflection of the ICOM Solidarity Training in Various Museums in India'. Along with The City Palace Museum, Udaipur, 3 other institutions that came together on a joint platform were The National Rail Museum, New Delhi, Museum of Art and Photography, Bangalore and Museum of Christian Art, Goa; the purpose of the session was to respond to the Conservation Risk Assessment Challenges.

Visit of Ms. Yolanda Ezendam

Ms. Yolanda Ezendam, Head of Collections Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Part of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science) Programme of International Heritage Cooperation, Amersfoort, Netherlands held meeting with Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Trustee, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation. Ms. Yolanda was in Udaipur from 5th -11th Sept 2022.

She discussed approaches of looking at the shared heritage, and the connections that existed between Mewar, India and the Dutch/ Netherlands as early as the 1700s.

The purpose of the visit was to explore the possibility of collaboration, to have a knowledge exchange, identify possible shared challenges and together conserve and promote the shared legacy.

UNESCO - 2022 ICH NGO Conference

Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Trustee, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation welcomed the guests from the country and abroad at the '2022 Intangible Cultural Heritage NGO's Conference' at the Sabhagaar Conference Hall, Taj Fateh Prakash Palace, Udaipur. The 2 day conference on 25th Sept - 26th Sept 2022 was organized by International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) and UNESCO New Delhi Office in association with Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF).

Opening remarks was presented by Mr. Eric Falt, Director, UNESCO New Delhi Cluster Office; Congratulatory remarks was given by Ms. Lily Pandeya, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture; Ms. Shikha Saxena, Deputy Director, Regional Tourism Office of the Tourism Department of Rajasthan State Government, congratulated all the guests and institutions for the future. Opening remarks was also presented by Mr. Jisung Kim, Director General, International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP)

Session included Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) as Driving Force for Sustainable Development; Networking with Civil Societies (Embracing everyone through ICH- ICH and Inclusive Social Development). Guests and participants took a visit to The City Palace Museum followed by interaction with traditional artists; Musical Performance and display of live crafts at The Zenana Mahal.

The day 2 started with session at MMCF conference hall and Khush Mahal, sessions included 'Discussion on the importance of research and inventory and Introduction on the Overall Result Framework established within the 2003 Convention for safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity'; 'Adoption of the Recommendation, Declaration and Report on the Forum by Rapporteurs'.
