Visit of Dr. Debra Diamond and Mr. Neil Greentree

Dr. Debra Diamond visited The City Palace Museum, Udaipur from 30th January 2023 to 5th February 2023. She is Elizabeth Moynihan Curator of South Asian and Southeast Asian Art, and co-curator of the collaborative exhibition titled 'A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur'. During her visit, she delivered a special presentation about the exhibition and behind the scenes at the Smithsonian, for City Palace Museum staff who had worked on the exhibits prior to its travel to the USA. Accompanied by Mr. Neil Greentree, she toured the new exhibitions at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur.

Holika Ropan - Setting of Holika Effigy

Holika Ropan or the setting up a Holika Effigy is a unique ritual observed in the Northern part of India on Purnima or the full moon day in the Holika Ropan - Setting up of Holika Effigy at Manek Chowk, The City Palace, Udaipur month of Magh, as per the Hindu calendar. The effigy was made at Manek Chowk, The City Palace, Udaipur with traditional customs and rituals on 05th February 2023. This ritual is associated with the Holi festival or the festival of colors. The day kick starts with the preparation for the Holi festival. Holika Dahan takes place on the next Purnima or full moon day, which is the Phalgun Purnima
