The City Palace Preface

Ganesh Chowk at a glance:

Ganesh Chowk: The foyer from Darikhana ki Pol opens in the west to Ganesh Chowk. It was built by Maharana Karan Singh, r. 1620-1628 on the roof of the Sat Navari Paiga, meaning seven and nine stables for horses.

The canopy and fans for the convenience of the tourist on Ganesh Chowk have been added by Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar in year 2016. At the end of the Ganesh Chowk is Chota Darikhana built by Maharana Swarup Singh, r. 1842- 1861 and is now being used as a space for renovation and conservation of Museum Arms and Armour and is also sometimes rented out for exhibitions.

On the northern end of the Ganesh Chowk is a small Gallery where Chambord, France Panorama pictures have been put up as a permanent exhibition. To the east end of the Ganesh Chowk is Ganesh Deodhi which was also built by Maharana Karan Singh, however it was an open to the sky staircase leading to Rai Angan and further into the Mardana Mahal of The City Palace on the first floor. It was later covered by Maharana Bhupal Singh, r. 1930-1955, who also installed the Victorian tiles on the side walls. It has an ornate idol of Lord Ganesh the God of Wisdom.

The idol, Sculpted from marble, is placed in a niche with fine glass inlay work around it.

Philanthropy

Scholarships and Grants

Today, one of the Foundation's biggest outgoing expenses is charity being done through its direct donations to causes, such as, support to scholarships, endowments, pension schemes and medical-aid, thus fulfilling directly many of the objectives. In keeping the objective of the organization to promote and encourage excellence and to help the needy without discrimination or favour but on the basis of the cause. Both men and women applicants are treated fairly and without bias. The trust has also sponsored and subsidized the presentation of research papers at symposia both in India, and across the globe.

Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation has provided scholarship to Mr. Kapil Paliwal, to continue his studies of XII and to Mr. Aarav Jain to continue his studies of IVth.

Charitable Dispensary and Medical Aid

Medical Aid is an important activity of the MMCF. MMCF runs a charitable dispensary, which operates all year round. The Staff's yearly medical checkups are also organized by the Foundation. Citizens of the region can apply to it for medical benefits and assistance. It aims to provide free medical advice and medicines to the needy that are unable to pay for medical treatment.

A total number of 1330 patients were treated in the month of November and December 2022.

Financial Assistance

Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation has provided financial assistance in favour of Mr. Narendra Mishra from Chittorgarh.
