The art of Kathputli puppetry is a centuries-old tradition that originated in Rajasthan. Scholars and historians believe that it was first developed by the Bhat community, an indigenous agricultural laborer community in the Mewar region. The puppets are typically used to tell stories from Hindu mythology and folk tales, and they have been a popular form of entertainment in Rajasthan for centuries. Mr. Kundan Bhatt is a third-generation puppeteer from the Bhat community. He has been performing puppetry for over 30 years and is considered one of the finest puppeteers in Rajasthan.
