Maharana Amar Singh I, 465th birth anniversary on April 15th, 2024

Maharana Amar Singh I (1597 - 1620 CE), his coronation took place in Chavand.


Maharana had become very familiar with the hills, valleys and mountain routes of Mewar by living with his father Maharana Pratap since childhood, that is why he fought many hill battles with the Mughals along with Maharana Pratap. Prince Salim attacked Mewar twice during the time of Maharana Amar Singh but he did not get any success.

Many renowned historians of the country described Maharana Amar Singh as a worthy descendant of Mewar clan and Maharana Pratap. After the Mewar-Mughal treaty, Amar Singh did many things in a planned manner to improve the administration and paid his attention towards the rehabilitation of the people.

Due to continuous conflict in Mewar, many people had left Mewar and Maharana invited them back to Mewar. Despite being struggling, Maharana patronized art and architecture in Mewar. He got the Amar Mahal built in the royal palace of Udaipur, not only this he also got the famous Ragamala miniature painting series painted.

Maharana Sangram Singh II, 334th birth anniversary on April 30th 2024

Maharana Sangram Singh II, (1710 - 1734 CE) built the historical Tripolia in the royal palace of Udaipur.

During the Mughal rule, no Hindu ruler was allowed to do such construction but Maharana did not care about it. Maharana built many famous buildings like palaces in Nahar Magre, Chinese painting galleries in the palaces of Udaipur, Darikhana in Jagmandir, huge chhatris of his father Maharana Amar Singh II in Mahasatyaji, Saheli ki Bari etc. Not only this, Maharana built the famous Shitala Mata Ji temple of Udaipur and a huge temple of Vaidyanath Mahadev in Sisarma village, west of Pichola pond. Whose consecration was done on Thursday, 14th Maghsudi, 1772. Due to Maharana's generosity, he donated many villages, cows etc. to Brahmins etc.

Instrumental performance at Baadi Mahal

Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation is ommitted to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Mewar on same behalf it provide platform to the resident artists to showcase their art every week at the Baadi Mahal of The City Palace Museum.

The artists perform with variety of traditional Indian instruments including santoor, flute, jal tarang, and sitar. The performances are open to the visiting tourists.

On March 02nd, 2024 Mr. Dharesh Pandya (Flute); March 09th 2024 Mr. Om Prakash Tak (Sitar); March 16th 2024 Ms. Kanishka Verma (Violin); March 23rd, 2024 Mr. Suresh Kumar Prajapat (Flute); March 30th 2024 Mr. Om Prakash Tak (Sitar); April 06th 2024 Mr. Sourabh Dehlvi (Sitar); April 13th, 2024 Mr. Nandlal Gandharv (Jal Tarang); April 20th, 2024 Mr. Anand Dabley(Flute) and on April 27th, 2024 Mr. Pradeep Kumar Tanwar (Sitar) presented their performance. The performances took place at 10:00 AM till 01.00 PM at the Baadi Mahal, City Palace Museum, Udaipur. The instrumental performances are a great way to experience the rich cultural heritage of Mewar for the visitors to the museum.
