Lecture Seminar: Maharana Sangram Singh I and the significance of the Mewar Kingdom in the early 16th century

A national level seminar on Maharana Sangram Singh I was organized by Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur on 21st October 2024. The historians, scholars, researchers from Udaipur as well as participants from Vikram University, Ujjain, Rajasthan University, Jaipur were present. The guests were greeted by Dr. Mayank Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, MMCF, he presented his views on the Foundation's plan and organizing the seminar. Dr. Prashant Puranik, historian of Vikram University, Ujjain, threw deep light on the then political conditions of Malwa from the Malwa campaigns of Maharana Sanga. Udaipur historian Dr. Shri Krishna Jugnu, shed light on the copper plates of Mewar of Maharana Sangram Singh's period he also shed light on the silver plates of the temples of Mewar. Mewar historian Dr. J.K. Ojha mentioned the inscriptions and copper plates of Dungla, Biloda, Bhanakhedi etc. and called them important sources of history. Dr. Priyadarshini Ojha threw light on the historical life story of Rana Sanga. Dr. Manish Shrimali, while giving his views on the diplomacy of Rana Sanga in his lecture, said that even after defeating Ibrahim Lodi of Delhi, Rana did not rule Delhi. As a part of his diplomacy, Sanga imprisoned Mahmud of Malwa and kept him with him and after 6 months sent him to Malwa by giving him half of the kingdom. Research officer, MMCF Ms. Swati Jain threw light on the current status of Khanwa and Bayana and the forts, hills there along with historical evidence. Mr. Giriraj Singh of the Foundation's publication department described Maharana Sanga as an emperor who gave shelter to the refugees in the Suryavanshi tradition. Dr. Niki Chaturvedi of Jaipur and researcher Mr. Anuradha Srivastava of Udaipur discussed the early life philosophy of Rana Sanga and researcher Kalpesh described Maharana Sangram Singh I as a skilled strategist.

Hathi Aagad revived with two life-size Elephant Sculptures

The Governor of Punjab and Chandigarh Administrator, Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria, inaugurated two life-size sculptures of elephants engaged in war practice with mahouts at Manek Chowk, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur on 16th September 2024. During the inauguration, he highlighted the sacrifice of Maharana Pratap's elephant, Ramprasad, who valiantly fought against Akbar's army. Captured by enemies, Ramprasad refused food and ultimately laid down his life in loyalty to his master. This poignant story underscores Mewar's unique history, where even voiceless elephants demonstrated immense courage in the struggle for independence. Mr. Kataria emphasized that the new sculptures will enable visitors to the City Palace Museum to connect with this rich history and understand how elephants were trained for warfare in ancient times.
