Experience the Soul of Tribal Art: A Showcase of Rajasthan's Indigenous Heritage

Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF), in collaboration with the Manikyalal Verma Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRI), Tribal Area Development Department, Udaipur, jointly organized a three-day exhibition titled "Experience the Soul of Tribal Art in Indigenous Diorama" from 23rd to 25th May 2025. This unique event offered visitors an immersion into the tribal roots of Rajasthan, showcasing vibrant paintings, wooden sculptures, masks, and textiles curated by Banphool Design Studio.

The exhibition was inaugurated at Chhota Darikhana, The City Palace Museum, by Divisional Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kewalramani, TAD Commissioner Mr. Shakti Singh Rathore, and MMCF Chairman and Managing Trustee Shriji Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar. Speaking at the inauguration, Divisional Commissioner Ms. Kewalramani emphasized the Rajasthan government's ongoing commitment under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhajanlal Sharma to preserve and promote the state's rich folk art and cultural heritage.

She noted that, guided by Tribal Area Development Department Minister Mr. Babulal Kharari, several initiatives are underway to further strengthen the cultural roots of Rajasthan's tribal communities. The present exhibition, supported by MMCF, is a significant step in this direction.

Shriji Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar highlighted Mewar's longstanding tradition of protecting folk arts and described the exhibition as an important platform to rejuvenate this unique legacy. He encouraged both tourists and locals to visit the exhibition and support the artists. TRI Director Mr. O.P. Jain shared that the exhibition featured works not only from Banphool Design Studio artists but also exceptional painters and mural artists from Rajasthan's tribal communities.

The event was also graced by Tribal Area Development Department officer Mr. Sudhir Dave, alongside folk artists, MMCF officials, and a large audience. The exhibition attracted a significant number of local and international visitors, all of whom enjoyed the vibrant diversity and artistic richness of Rajasthan's tribal art.
