Exploring Museum Excellence: A Curatorial Visit to Delhi's Premier Museums

From 10th to 13th June 2025, a five-member team from The City Palace Museum, Udaipur undertook an official visit to several prominent museums in Delhi to gain fresh perspectives on museum practices. The team comprised Dr. Hansmukh Seth (Associate Curator), Ms. Geetika Kumar (Assistant Curator), Ms. Vatsla (Curatorial Assistant), Mr. Mudit Charles John (Museum Liaison Executive), and Mr. Mahipal Singh (Gallery Supervisor). Over four days, they visited the Archaeological Museum at Purana Qila, National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, National Museum, National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Museo Camera, museum galleries at Red Fort, and the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art.

Each museum offered unique experiences and insights into contemporary trends in museum administration, visitor engagement, and educational initiatives.

Preserving Mewar's Musical Heritage: Weekly Performances at Baadi Mahal

The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation is committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Mewar. In line with this mission, the Foundation provides a platform for resident artists to showcase their talents weekly at the Baadi Mahal within The City Palace Museum, Udaipur. These artists perform using a variety of traditional Indian instruments, including the santoor, flute, jal tarang, and sitar. The performances are open to all visiting tourists.

On April 19th, 2025, Mr. Dheeraj Vaishnav (Santoor); April 26th, 2025, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Tanwar (Sitar); May 3rd, 2025, Mr. Anand Dabley (Flute); May 10th, 2025, Mr. Nandlal Gandharv (Jal Tarang); May 24th, 2025, Mr. Vijay Kumar Dhandra (Sarangi); May 31st, 2025, Mr. Navin Rao (Santoor); June 7th, 2025, Mr. Suresh Kumar Prajapati (Flute); June 14th, 2025, Mr. Om Prakash Tak (Sitar); June 21st, 2025, Mr. Vijay Kumar Dhandra (Sarangi); and June 28th, 2025, Mr. Chandan Prajapat (Sitar) presented their instrumental performances.

These performances were held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Baadi Mahal, City Palace Museum, Udaipur. They provide visitors with a wonderful opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritageof Mewar.
