Anniversary Celebrations of Maharanas

The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, steadfast in its mission to preserve and propagate the illustrious heritage of Mewar, continues to honor its timeless legacy through the annual celebrations of Maharana birth anniversaries. During the months of April, May and June 2025, the Foundation joyously commemorated the enduring legacies of four esteemed Maharanas of Mewar.

Through a series of thoughtfully curated events, ceremonies, and educational initiatives, these celebrations not only paid homage to the great rulers but also inspired renewed appreciation for the values, traditions, and cultural achievements that define Mewar's identity. By reflecting on the remarkable lives, principles, and contributions of these Maharanas, the Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to connecting present and future generations with the glorious history of Mewar.

Maharana Sangram Singh II-(r. 1710 - 1734 CE)

On April 19, 2025 the foundation celebrated 335th birth anniversary of Maharana Sangram Singh II

Ascending the throne in 1710 CE, Maharana Sangram Singh II was known for his skilled leadership, military achievements, and commitment to art, architecture, and culture. Notable among his contributions are the construction of the Tripoliya Gate and Sahelion ki Baadi in Udaipur, as well as support for the flourishing of miniature painting in his court.

His reign was marked by diplomatic engagement with neighboring states and the Mughal empire, steadfast opposition to unjust policies, and successful campaigns to preserve Mewar's sovereignty. Through these commemorations, the Foundation continues to inspire respect for the rich legacy and values of Mewar's Maharanas.

Maharana Sangram Singh I - (r. 1509-1528 CE)

On April 22, 2025 the foundation celebrated 543rd birth anniversary of Maharana Sangram Singh I

Renowned as Rana Sanga, he was a legendary warrior and unifying force among Rajput rulers, who valiantly resisted the expanding powers of Gujarat, Malwa, and the Mughal Empire.

Despite personal adversity and family conflicts, Maharana Sangram Singh's reign saw Mewar's boundaries fortified and its influence extended across North India. He led decisive campaigns against powerful adversaries, including battles at Idar and Gagron and the celebrated stand at Khanwa against Babur's Mughal forces. His courage inspired respect and unity among the Rajputs, and his leadership ensured Mewar's cultural and economic prosperity. The coins and land grants from his era reflect a time of strength and generosity.

Maharana Raj Singh II - (r. 1754 - 1761 CE)

On May 10, 2025 the foundation celebrated 282nd birth anniversary of Maharana Raj Singh II

Ascended the throne as a child and led Mewar during times of great challenge. Despite his young age, he bravely faced repeated Maratha invasions and supported Jodhpur's rightful heir in a time of regional unrest. His reign was marked by military resistance, difficult negotiations for peace, and efforts to maintain Mewar's stability under constant threat. Maharana Raj Singh II is remembered for his resilience and his mother's contributions, including the construction of temples and step wells near Udaipur. His legacy endures as an example of courage and commitment to the kingdom, even in the most testing circumstances.
