Internship Corner

Ms. Katherine Andrews, an intern from Princeton University, recently completed a two-month internship at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur.

She is pursuing a major in Anthropology with a minor in East Asian Studies. During her internship, Ms. Andrews focused primarily on the Textile Gallery, where she engaged in research, redesign, and re-planning of the display and collection study

As part of her work, she also curated an engaging two-day educational program at the Maharana Mewar Public School, Udaipur. Drawing inspiration from the museum's textile collection, students were introduced to the intricate tradition of danka embroidery, using beads, ribbons, and gilt-silver paper.

They also experimented with paper embroidery on printed photographs of the aago, an archival garment from the museum's holdings. Through these hands-on activities, students were encouraged to creatively reinterpret traditional motifs of Mewar, bridging the rich heritage of textiles with contemporary imagination.
