Symposium: Mewar Rajvansh evam Sahitya

On 17th February 2026, The City Palace Museum hosted a seminar on Mewar Rajvansh evam Sahitya (The Mewar Dynasty and Literature) in the museum's Conference Hall. The event was jointly organized by the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi and the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, bringing together scholars, historians, and literary enthusiasts to explore Mewar's rich textual and cultural legacy.

Dr. Basant Singh Solanki, Secretary of the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi, formally inaugurated the seminar. Senior litterateur Dr. Vidhya Paliwal set the tone with a powerful reflection on Mewar as an "extraordinary land of Rajput pride," underlining its enduring role in Rajasthan's literary and cultural memory

Prof. Madhav Hada spoke on how evolving intellectual traditions and modernity have shaped contemporary understandings of Indian literature and history, while historian Dr. J. K. Ojha focused on how literature was preserved even during the turbulent Maratha period, despite political instability.

Dr. Rajendranath Purohit drew attention to the rare manuscripts held in the Maharana's private library, emphasizing their value for both research and cultural continuity. Dr. Manish Shrimali presented on Sajjan Kirti Sudhakar, Mewar's first Hindi gazette, and its pioneering role in the region's journalistic history.

The seminar was thoughtfully moderated by Dr. Saraswati Joshi, whose interventions helped weave these diverse perspectives into a cohesive narrative about Mewar's literary and royal heritage.
