Museum Futures:
Embedding Sustainability and Inclusion

Reaffirming its commitment to responsible heritage stewardship, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur took a significant step towards sustainable museum practices on 1st June 2026 with the implementation of the project "Museum Futures: Embedding Sustainability and Inclusion".

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ReReef Foundation, the museum partnered with Saahas Zero Waste, a leading professional waste management organisation, to undertake a comprehensive Sustainability Audit across the museum premises.

The audit evaluated the placement, accessibility and utilisation of waste bins throughout the museum, assessing existing waste management practices. Based on its findings, the audit team provided strategic recommendations on effective waste segregation, efficient collection systems and environmentally responsible waste management, paving the way for a more sustainable and inclusive visitor experience.

This initiative reflects the museum's vision of preserving not only cultural heritage but also the natural environment, ensuring that sustainability becomes an integral part of museum operations for generations to come.
