The school was initially established as the first boys school by Maharana Shambhu Singh. In 1866, 51 girls were admitted to the school.
The school is celebrating 150th anniversary of its establishment on 2nd November 2014. Presently 600 girls are studying in the school from class IX to XII.
MMCF Projects started the school's restoration project on 17th July 2014 after the Muhurat Poojan by Mrs. Nivritti Kumari Mewar. In phase 1 MMCF shall restore the outer facade of the school building.
The school is led under the able guidance of its prinipal, Ms. Damini Dantya.

40th Founders Day & Investiture Ceremony 2014-15 of Maharana Mewar Public School, Udaipur
Maharana Mewar Public School celebrated the 40th Founder's Day at the Kothar, The City Palace, Udaipur. A tribute was paid to His late Highness Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar. Brigadier Harsh Vardhan Singh, Commander 30 Infantry Brigade presided over the ceremony. The short cultural programme was followed by the Investiture Ceremony of the newly appointed students council 2014-15. The Chief Guest conferred the sashes and the school flag to the Head Boy - Parakram Singh Chawra and Head Girl - Payal Samar, Chief Marshal Abhi Sharma, Captains of Four House and Prefectural Body. The Principal administered the oath of allegiance to the newly appointed Students' Council.
On the occasion, Ms. Nirmal Bhatnagar (TGT, Hindi) was felicitated for rendering 30 years of service to the institution. Mr. Nand Singh Sisodia, senior most peon too was felicitated for his 33 years of service. 8 teachers including Mr. V.K. Choubisa, Mr. Manish Jaiswal, Ms. Seema Saxena, Ms. Abhilasha Sharma, Mr. Raghvendra Sharma, Mrs. Rakhee Trivedi and Mr. Sanjay Shrimal were also felicitated with letters of appreciation sent by Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, Ms. Smriti Zubin Irani on the stellar performance of the students of XII in Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
