Development in Maharana Mewar Special Library (MMSL)

Maharana Mewar Special Library (MMSL) is a world-class special library. By the end of this month MMSL has a collection of more than 34659 books of different varieties. Library has special collection of books on Literature, Religion, History, Arts, Zoology, Sports and General Geography about different part of India and globe and rare collection of books on Mewar dynasty.

33 new books were received in this month and all the books were processed in Accession Register. Classification of the books was done by Dewey decimal classification 19th Rev. Edition, Cataloguing (AACR II) and Bibliography; details uploaded in Library housekeeping software. Libsys and Eternal Mewar website http://eternalmewar.in/mmsl.

Stamping, tagging and scanning was also performed all these books.

The details and images of important books which were received in December 2018 were : - Jarodaya Smarika, 20th Century Indian Art : Fundraising auction -15 December 2018, Shri Vishwavijaya - Panchangam Shri Vikram Samvat 2076.

National workshop on Stone tool making technique

Sahitya Sansthan, JRN Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University and Mohanlal Sukhadia University organized a national workshop on Stone Age tool making technique from 30th November to 4th December 2018. Eminent Prof. Shanti Pappu and Mr. Kumar Akhilesh from Sharma Centre for Heritage Education, Chennai, were the facilitators of the workshop. The workshop, a hands-on learning opportunity on the technique of Stone tool making (early Stone Age to Chalcolithic phase), brought together more than 40 students from across the country. Dr. Hansmukh Seth, Associate Curator, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur participated and represented MMCF in this workshop.

Book launch: "Auwa Thikana Marwar" By Thakur Bhupendra Singh of Auwa

The Book "Auwa Thikana Marwar" compiled by Thakur Bhupendra Singh of Auwa was launched by Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation on 12th December 2018, at Shambhu Niwas Palace, Udaipur.

The Book has been published by Maharana Mewar Historical Publication Trust. In Marwar out of 8 premier Thikanas, Auwa is one of the premier Thikanas and holds a very high place in the History of Marwar. During the reign of Maharaja Ajit Singh of Jodhpur r. 1679 - 1724, the 'Jagir' of Auwa was granted to Thakur Tej Singh. In 1857, during the so called Sepoy mutiny, the then Thakur Khushal Singh played a major role in leading the fight against the then British Govt. Besides this other aspects of Auwa History has come out in this book.
