Making a woodblock print

In another printing workshop, titled Motifs of Mewar, in print!, conducted from 15th -18th February 2023, participants were acquainted to and could experience the techniques of print making and the unique forms of motifs seen in Mewar and the City Palace, Udaipur. They made use of tote bags and post cards, as per their preference, for this printing.

Mirror-Mirror workshop entailed learning the mirror art form that is older than 100 years, and that features popularly on the walls of yesteryear Udaipur including at its City Palace. Participants were provided insight into the nuances behind making this art, its evolution over time, and were encouraged to look closer and appreciate the said art form better. This workshop was conducted from 22nd - 25th February 2023

Makerspace Challenge and Motifs of Mewar, in print! were facilitated by Ms. Shruti Suresh, Curatorial Intern (Museum Education), while Woodcut Wonders and Mirror-Mirror were facilitated by Ms. Anamika Singh, Curatorial Intern (Museum Education). These workshops were conducted in the Museum's Activity Room, near Curator office, Zenana Mahal.

Visit of conservation experts from SRAL and The MET

As a part of the Indian Conservation Fellowship Programme 2022-23, Ms. Kate Seymour, Head of Education, Stitching Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL), The Netherlands along with Ms. Joanna Strombek, Paintings Conservator and Ms. Lisa Pilosi, Object Conservator, The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET), New York, U.S along with Ms. Savita Monie, ICFP Programme Manager, visited The City Palace Museum, Udaipur on 20th February 2023. City Palace Museum's Conservator, Ms. Anuja Mukherjee, went to SRAL for 4 months from October 2022 - January 2023 as a part of this fellowship programme and received conservation training under Ms. Kate Seymour.
