Conference on Jain Traditions in Jodhpur

Dr. Hansmukh Seth, Associate Curator at The City Palace Museum, Udaipur, represented Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur at a Conference on 'Jain Traditions' organized by INDICA in Jodhpur on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2024. He presented his research titled 'Jain Evidences: Discovered from Excavations at Chandravati, a historic-medieval site in Sirohi, Rajasthan.' The conference was attended by over 50 delegates from India and abroad."

International Conference on Women Empowerment

The Second Annual Session of the International Conference on Women Empowerment 2024, titled 'Renaissance of Resilience: Women Empowering the World Through Ages,' was jointly organized by the Centre for History and Archaeology, Varahamihira Multidisciplinary Institute, Asiatic Society for Social Science Research, in collaboration with the Department of History and Archaeology, Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Haryana, from March 15-17, 2024.

On March 19, 2024, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Singh 'Sanjay', author of "Shree Ram ki Ayodhya", delivered a captivating lecture that immersed the audience in the cultural richness of Shree Ram's realm. Drawing from his expertise and dedication to education, he shared profound insights from his book, "Shree Ram ki Ayodhya", leaving attendees inspired.

"The Place of Many Moods: Udaipur's Painted Lands and India's Eighteenth Century" - A Lecture by Prof. Dipti Khera

A lecture was organized on 21st March 2024, delivered by the esteemed scholar Prof. Dipti Khera, titled 'The Place of Many Moods: Udaipur's Painted Lands and India's Eighteenth Century'. Prof. Khera, Associate Professor in the Department of Art History and at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York, is a distinguished scholar of early modern South Asia.

Prof. Khera's lecture delved into the fascinating world of Udaipur during the eighteenth century, exploring the artistic and cultural landscape shaped by shifting imperial authorities and colonial economies. She focused on how painters from Udaipur perceived and depicted the bhavafeel, emotion, and mood-of the city, interpreting it as open to adaptation, admiration, and assimilation.

Prof. Khera shed light on the works of artists like Ghasi, a court artist for Udaipur's Maharanas Bheem Singh and Jawan Singh, whose creations depicted the exuberant and ephemeral atmospheres of urban and lush frontiers. She discussed the role of colonial agents like James Tod and artists like Patrick Waugh and Edward Finden, whose illustrations and writings contributed to shaping perceptions of Rajasthan in colonial narratives.
