Maharana Amar Singh II - (r. 1698 - 1710 CE) -352nd Birth Anniversary Celebration On November 20th, 2024, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation celebrated the 352nd birth anniversary of Maharana Amar Singh II. Maharana Amar Singh II, born on Maghshirsh Krishna 5, Vikram Samvat 1729 (Gregorian calendar 1672 CE), was the eldest son of Maharana Jai Singh and Maharani Ranga Kunwar Hada. He ascended the throne of Mewar on 28th September 1698 CE after his father's demise, proceeding to Udaipur from Raj Nagar. His reign was marked by significant military and administrative achievements, including successful campaigns against Dungarpur and Banswara, where he defeated local rulers and successfully pleaded his case in the Mughal court. Amar Singh II strategically navigated complex political relationships, supporting Prince Muazzam during the Mughal succession crisis and maintaining diplomatic ties by sending gifts and his brother Bakht Singh to the Mughal court. He also provided crucial support to Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur and Ajit Singh of Jodhpur against Mughal pressures, even establishing a marital alliance by wedding his daughter Chandra Kunwari to Maharaja Jai Singh II in 1708 Known for his administrative reforms, he introduced new rules for nobles, restructured state management, and initiated architectural projects like Shiv Prasanna Amarvilas and the Shree Dwarkadhishji temple, while also recapturing important parganas like Pur and Mandal in 1708 CE
Maharana Jawan Singh - (r. 1828 - 1838 CE) -224th Birth Anniversary Celebration On December 03rd, 2024, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation celebrated the 224th birth anniversary of Maharana Jawan Singh. Maharana Jawan Singh, the younger son of Maharana Bheem Singh, ascended the throne of Mewar on 31st March 1828 CE, born to Gulab Kunwar of the Chawda clan. His reign was characterized by significant economic challenges and administrative instability, with the British East India Company treaty providing protection in exchange for revenue. Despite financial struggles, Jawan Singh was a patron of arts and literature, writing poetry under the pen name 'Brajraj' and supporting scholars and artists. In 1832 CE, he met Governor General Lord William Bentick in Ajmer to address the kingdom's deteriorating economic condition. |
