Sanskrit has been prevalent in the Mewar region since ancient times. The region has been inhabited since the 1st century BC, and Sanskrit was widely used through the 10th century. Many stone inscriptions of the Maharanas of Mewar are found in Sanskrit. This translation of the ancient inscriptions collected in Veer Vinod sheds light not only on various historical events but also on the social and religious contexts of the time.

World Environment Day Talk at The City Palace Museum

To commemorate World Environment Day on 5th June 2025, The City Palace Museum, Udaipur hosted a talk titled "Udaipur's Environment: Then and Now", presented by Mr. Satish Shrimali, former Additional Chief Town Planner of Rajasthan. The session was specially arranged for the Museum guides, recognizing their important role as storytellers and cultural ambassadors of the region. The talk traced Udaipur's ecological history, from the traditional lake-planning initiatives under the Maharana rulers to the environmental challenges the city faces today.

The Exquisite Corpse Project Udaipur 2025: A Celebration of Collaborative Art

The City Palace Museum, Udaipur, proudly hosted The Exquisite Corpse Exhibition-a unique artistic collaboration showcasing the creativity of 42 artists through 14 collaborative artworks. The event took place on Friday, June 6th, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM, followed by a two-day artistic team group exhibition on June 7th and 8th at the Chota Darikhana, The City Palace Museum.

Curated by renowned curator Ms. Pattiann Withapea, The Exquisite Corpse Udaipur explored the inventive concept of assembling disparate artistic elements-head, torso, and leg- into unified, expressive compositions. This collective effort blended individual creativity with shared vision, making the exhibition a vibrant testament to teamwork and artistic synergy.

Visitors had the opportunity to experience the diverse perspectives and styles of participating artists, who crafted compelling narratives through their collaborative pieces. The exhibition provided an inspiring encounter with contemporary art practices, reflecting both innovation and tradition within the beautiful heritage setting of The City Palace Museum.

The event successfully brought together art enthusiasts, scholars, and the general public to celebrate the power of collaboration in the arts.
